The city of Richelieu, Quebec is situated in the Greater Montréal metropolitan area.


Roughly one quarter of properties in Richelieu were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. In this city, about 55% of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. The best method to get around in Richelieu is usually driving. In contrast, the public transit system in this part of the Greater Montréal metropolitan area is not very accessible. Nonetheless, the city is served by a few bus lines. Richelieu is not very well-suited for those who travel by foot as meeting daily needs is very impractical.


There are only a few primary schools in Richelieu and thus they can be an extended walk away. Likewise, this city does not contain any high schools. Likewise, it can be very difficult to reach daycares on foot. Regarding eating, some, but not all, home buyers in Richelieu will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.


The noise levels in Richelieu are quite low, as the streets tend to be tranquil - although that is not the case near Autoroute des Cantons-de-l'Est. This part of the Greater Montréal metropolitan area features a small amount of greenery; however there are a few parks nearby for residents to explore.
